Humidur FP can be used on gritblasted carbon steel and stainless in CUI conditions up to 150 °C
Corrosion under insulation (CUI) remains one of the biggest challenges in petrochemical industries. Only few coatings seem to stand and last in these CUI-conditions.
The Australian Curtin University and Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar present experimental designs to investigate coating performance under accelerated laboratory test conditions.
Humidur FP has proven to be a successful and durable solution to stop CUI and was therefore used as the tested coating system in this study. The coating was pushed over normal industry limits to evaluate the test setup itself and not the coating.
Accelerated tests were done in the university’s laboratories on Humidur FP and showed remarkable results. In brief:
- Humidur FP has proven to withstand in CUI applications up to 150°C.
- Humidur FP performed excellent on both gritblasted carbon steel and stainless steel with extremely high adhesion values in the usable temperature range of the coating.
- EIS measurements also confirm that Humidur FP coating has excellent barrier properties under the tested high temperatures.
Conclusion: Humidur FP can be used on gritblasted carbon steel and stainless in CUI conditions up to 150 °C.
